Professor Xu Jinrong's Research Team Made Important Advance in the Study of Fungal Precursor mRNA Splicing

Author: Peng Kefeng Date:2016-04-19

Professor Xu Jinrong and his research team carried out functional research on the kinomics group of wheat scab toxin. They found Gibberella PRP4 kinase gene is crucial to the efficiency of splicing, and mRNA splicing is controlled by the other components of phosphorylation splicing. This study has important significance on revealing splicing mechanism and difference of fungal precursor mRNA.

The slicing of wheat phytoalexin precursor RNA and its spliceosome formation

The team found, gibberella PRP4 kinase gene is not essential and may obtain knockout mutants, after which they carried out in-depth study on the mechanism of PRP4 in RNA splicing. The paper concerning the study has been published on Genetics PLoS (IF=8.555), a top Journal of genetics. PHD students Gao Xuli and associate professor Jin Qiaojun are the co-first authors of the paper. Professor Xu Jinrong is the corresponding author.
