The 21-day visiting program at at the University of California, Irvine was successfully completed. At the beginning of the new term, students on the visiting program shared their feelings and experiences.
There is this teacher, Marty, who impressed me the most. He has a deep friendship with Chinese people. Marty’s teaching is free from standard answers. Rather, he focuses on better plans. Also, I feel that local students are busier with their study, as I learn from them that sometimes they have to stay up all night to prepare for the examination. Now looking at the saying ‘It is easy to be enrolled but difficult to graduate’, I think it means a student needs to work out something upon graduation.
I appreciate their living attitude. They are not afraid of changes and they always try something different, being job positions or living environment. A person can stay young even in their old age. There are few people who would like to spend their whole life on one position. Every person has hobbies and is committed to themselves, to their work, and to the people around them.
This is my first trip abroad and I got the chance to experience the time difference. UCI is located in Irvine, Orange County, which is commented as the safest place in the U.S. The new environment and fresh start excited us. Teachers there have a good grasp of speaking art. Instead of criticizing, they always encourage and praise the students. Life in California also makes a deep impression on me.
